UntitledThe Round Lake Area Exchange Club and sponsor, Diana’s Salon and Spa, are proud to announce the August Hometown Hero, U.S. Navy Petty Officer First Class Sharon Kallner of Round Lake Heights. She was registered for this honor by her parents Steve and Paula Kallner also from Round Lake Heights.
Kallner has served in the Navy for 6 years and is 2007 graduate from Grant Community High School. She earned her Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice, specializing in Homeland Security from St. Leo University. She currently serves as First Class Information Systems Technician, operating and maintaining the Navy’s global satellite telecommunications systems, mainframe computers, local and wide area networks, and micro-computer systems used in the fleet. She is also an active member of the USS Gerald Ford Soccer Team. Some of the awards and medals she has earned are Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Expeditionary Warfare Pin earned while serving with Seal Team 2 in Afghanistan and Information Dominance Warfare Pin.
With the generous support of this month’s sponsor, Diana’s Salon and Spa, Kallner’s “Hanging with the Heroes” care package will include a Skittles, beef jerky, and other snacks and goodies. Also included is a personalized “Hanging with the Heroes” t-shirt (donated by Artrageous of Hainesville). The Hometown Hero website is managed by Fokoz Creative Group of Grayslake. The Round Lake Area Exchange Club will present a plaque on his behalf Wednesday, August 26, at their meeting in Round Lake.
